Houses For Sale or Rent in UK

Most of these are stand-alone dwellings and come in a wide variety of styles and forms. Most house sales include a land title. Because of this ownership of land, houses are usually more expensive than a flat or studio in the same area. Houses are more common in middle and outer suburbs of cities and rural areas. There are very few houses available in city centres and are likely to be very expensive.

Flats For Sale or Rent in UK

Flats are usually part of a larger complex and not many can be found with more than 3 bedrooms. Since you do not own the land, but simply the living space they are generally cheaper than houses in the same location. Flats are largely in the inner-city areas and in the suburbs where services are nearby such as public transport. There are very few flat options in the outer suburb and rural areas.

Studios For Sale or Rent in UK

Studios are small one-room flats. They are basically bedsits with their own small kitchens and bathrooms. They usually have a much smaller floor area than houses and multi-room flats. But they do have a large open-living area. The bedroom, living room and kitchen are usually part of the same room. Smart studio flats will have a 'wet room' which is basically a shower without walls in a small bathroom, where the entire floor can get wet without problem. Buyers and renters of studios, like flats, almost always have ownership of the living space, but do not have ownership of the land title. Most studio flats are in inner-city areas where space is at a premium.

Bedsits For Sale or Rent in UK

Bedsits are common in the UK and there is usually a large range available in most big cities, such as London and Edinburgh. Bedsits are basically a single bedroom - a bed with sitting room - in a larger building / house. The key difference between bedsits and studio flats is that bedsitters have to share the bathroom, toilet etc with other residents in the building. A bedsit might have its own cooking facilities but as often as not there will be a shared kitchen. Bedsits are usually located in towns and cities. They would commonly be used by students - many student halls of residence are more or less large collections of bedsits. But bedsits can also be found anywhere where there are rooms available including large farmhouses and estates in rural areas.
